Eddie Vedder just gave Bruce Springsteen a special post-election song dedication from the other side of the world.
“It’s been a tricky time in our nation back home,” said Vedder from the stage during Pearl Jam’s Saturday, Nov. 23 concert at Engie Stadium in Sydney, Australia according to social media videos. “We’re going to be OK. It’s just going to take some time, a bit of reset but we will lean on music when words fail.”
Vedder then performed solo version of “No Surrender,” a Springsteen classic from the 1984 album “Born in the USA.” Both Springsteen and Vedder publicly supported the candidacy of Kamala Harris for President of the United States.
She lost to former President Donald Trump on Nov. 5.
“Everything about that guy is magic,” said Vedder of Springsteen, noting that the E Street Band tour ended in Vancouver, where Pearl Jam’s current tour started. “Bruce Springsteen is magic and he makes magic and he works hard to make magic and then sometimes it’s easy for him to make magic. He also has songs of strength and … those of us who listen and need music for that way, he has songs that we’ve been able to depend on.”

Vedder and Springsteen notably performed “No Surrender” together in October of 2004 during a Vote for Change tour show at the former Continental Airlines Area in East Rutherford. Vedder was texting with the Boss on Saturday before the Pearl Jam tour-closing show, he said.
Springsteen and the E Street Band played Friday, Nov. 22, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver to close a Canadian tour. The shows start up again in May with concerts in the United Kingdom and Europe.
